I'm applying for a security officer position. I've had 25 yrs experience (1990 - present) as an animal control officer. This position has given me experience in dealing with difficult people in difficult situations. I have above average skills in customer service.
Since I'm applying for security, I want to list my security vehicle patrol experience (1988-1990) and my retail loss prevention experience (1985-1988) to my job history. My family is suggesting I do not list the security experience since it will date me even more (currently 54 yrs old). They suggest I just apply my animal control officer skills to the security officer position. I wanted to show the new employer that I do have security experience. Another thought would be just list my security experience in my profile without the dates? Any thoughts?
