background checks - no calls (references, employers, reputation, companies)

Hi Everyone,
just thought i'd post this.. i've been recently recruited by a few companies in my industry for similar positions

one called my references, but not the company and made an excellent offer

the other didn't call my references or my current company and made a great offer

just as an FYI- apparently not everyone checks references (even if they ask) or verify info with current employers.

That is true. Some companies ask for references and don't check, or just check one or two. Others don't ask, but go through the "backdoor" and check with their network or connections about what a candidate's reputation is. These are usually the most accurate reference checks, IMO.
