You did not do the right thing. You did the worst possible thing you could have done. It appears it was still on your mind and still is so you didn't even accomplish your weird mission of not getting rejected on the holiday. Please learn from your mistakes and don't do this again. It was very unwise.
OH, another thing: I pretty much wanted to cancel the interview because I had a huge zit. I mean HUGE. It was difficult for me to feel confident that day because I felt that I couldn't put my best face forward, literally. Then I also couldn't decide what I wanted to wear....then I realized I didn't really know where the interview was and there was a typo on the directions they gave me...then I tried to print out their specific instructions and my printer cartridge ran out of ink (of course!)...Then I couldn't find parking, it was snowballing into a terrible morning. I got there *right on the dot* but I wasn't early-- which I think kind of looks bad.

If they had hired you, would you skip work if you had a zit? Would you be late since you couldn't plan ahead on what to wear? And who prints out directions anymore? Don't you have a GPS? Or a phone with a GPS? And didn't you familiarize yourself with the area prior to the interview? Apparently not...
Yes, you did the company a huge favor.

Most people have lost loved ones - grandparents, aunts, uncles, parents, spouses, children, good friends. You'd be hard pressed to find someone who has never lost anyone. Fortunately, most people don't flake out like you just did.

It's business and the 23rd is a business day. Most companies really don't care about your enjoyment of the holidays. And burning a bridge is never good.

We all know things like these will happen BUT to an interviewer it can show lack of responsibility (to oneself) and make them wonder how they can handle tasks. That said, it is still a bad reason to cancel an interview but looks better than calling off.
Wow, is this OP for real? I would like to believe no one is this much of an idiot, but I've worked with people long enough to realize there are people this idiotic out there.
As far as advice for the OP, here's the things you should have learned from this experience:
(1) Leave very very early for job interviews.
(2) Drive to the job interview site at least one day before the interview so you will know where it is and you can check out the parking situation.
(3) Make sure you have the correct address where the interview is at least one day ahead of time.
(4) Lay out and prep the outfit you will wear the night before including shoes and accessories.
(5) No one cares about any zits you might have. 98% of the time they can't even see what you think is a huge zit and even if they do, they don't care. Even if they did care, it won't be the reason for you not getting an offer. Nobody has ever said "Bob was by far the best candidate for the job but we just can't hire him because he had that huge zit."
(6) Never withdraw an application. Let them reject you or if you do get an offer that you decide you don't want, then reject the offer.
(7) If you actually print directions rather than using your phone or GPS, print them the night before.
(8) Rejection is a part of life. Learn to deal with it and move on rather than avoiding it. If you want to not be rejected before Christmas, then don't interview for jobs before Christmas.
(9) Don't make excuses, no one cares about your excuses. Either do something or don't do it and quit with the excuses. You have a lot of growing up to do before you can be considered a responsible adult.

In 2007 I worked for (name of reputable company) Right around the holidays, I started noticing *there was not a lot for me to do * Not a good sign, right?
Well, they had the decency to wait until *after* the holidays to let me know I was going to be laid off.. and not until Feb 29th (Leap Year!!). So, they told me early January, so I had about 2 months to prepare myself.
Everyone in the department ended up getting laid off, at least all of the new people who had been hired esp for the project. The entire project was axed. Only one employee, would had worked in a different department prior to ours, ended up getting placed in a different dept, and staying.

I should have put a band-aid. I checked in my car mirror after the the interview, the makeup was rubbed off. Seriously, it was that bad. It was like Mount Vesuvius...
Withdraw or rejection you still don't have the job. You have a confidence problem. Here's a secret. There's always room on the streets for one more homeless person. If you got rejected just move on or have other options in play. SMH..
How old are you?! I mean, that may be a rude thing to ask...but you have to wonder. You sound quite young and even a bit immature. And, this is coming from someone who is YOUNG. But then you say you had some job you were laid off from in 2007, so you can't be all that young. Let's put it this way, in 2007...the only thing I was probably thinking about was how Santa was the greatest man to ever grace the Earth.
Anyways, you burned that bridge, and you know it. You need to grow up a little and get some thicker skin. How do you know that they were going to reject you? You don't! They could have offered you the position, but now you will never know. Excuses, will get you no where. Literally. No where. Welcome to the real world, even though it seems you may have been here for a little while already.
