networking with the other job seekers work well as well... not just the people behind the booths

Instead of a career fair, you should go to a tradeshow for the industry you are targeting. Odds are decent some people with influence will be there. And they can give you some insight on how to get in.

talking to other job seekers never helped anyone. They have no job - they're your competition. And they're going to give out leads or useful info? The ones the you need are the decision makers, the ones that have the power to hire. Other job seekers are the last people you should be dealing with. Many of them are bitter, upset and just downers. No way. Seek out managers, C level people.

Yes and that's what I suggested too earlier. job or career fairs and tradeshows are two different animals.

Yeah I have had friends tell me certain places are hiring but yet nothing ever happens from it. So I thought I could get a job by going to one of these events but by reading all that's been said, guess it wouldn't do much.

LOL, exactly. Not sure If I wanted to go that route when I was seeking employment because if those other unemployed people knew someone they would not be at the job fair.
