Hi, been almost 3 year's since I last worked for this company. Job was decent, close to home (5 miles down the road), pay was okay ($18 am hour), and free parking.
However, soneone called in an unknown tip. Company called me in said it violated policy be off for a week no pay until it was investigated. They couldn't find anything, but to be safe they said could be fired or resign. I resigned received my heakth insurance with them for a year and went on unemployment no contest for six month's.
I am desperate to find work. A lot of people I known there have left. There is a shift open work's great with my class schedule.
Thinking of applying think I have a shot? It's been 3 year's can't see myself blacklisted from them forever.
I wouldn't want to work at a place where anyone can phone in an accusation and the company fires you or forces you out whether it is substantiated or not. That said you probably won't get in but it is possible if they are as dysfunctional and high turnover as it sounds. However, I'd keep looking for a different job since what happened to you can happen again since they don't seem to value their workers at all and throw then under the bus for any reason.
If I were in your shoes, I'd not only apply but i'd call the people you worked with to maximize my chance.
Best of luck.
One of them most likely phoned in the "tip".
I can't imagine wanting to go back and work for a place that put you through all that. It's one thing if you get laid off due to a downsizing, or you quit on you're own and leave on good terms.
I'd think if they didn't fight you getting unemployment, you might have a shot, depending on how bad of a thing you were accused of.
I'd apply - sounds like it would be a good fit and even if you got rejected, at least you'd know. Better than wondering what would have happened if you had tried.
