It was a week ago now that I got the email for the other items and just got an email saying they forget to send me one other form to complete. It's a background check form that they should have apparently sent me last week.

The wait continues.

i would expect you'll hear back within 2-3 days of the background check form being sent back to them. Most background checks take a few days (longer if you've lived in a lot of smaller communities); but the most likely thing is that the company requires a background check before making an offer. So they will get yours back and make a decision. good luck!

Thanks! I just am trying not to get my hopes up too much since they even claimed that these forms are required by all who interview. But it doesn't make much sense to run backgrounds if you don't plan on moving forward.

We shall see.

Even if they claim the forms are required, it's still a good sign. If they weren't interested, I promise you wouldn't have gotten the request to complete the forms. Another positive sign is that they reached out to you a second time to get the form completed.

It sounds like they are narrowing things down. Give it more time...

Just got an email denial.

They said I was the #1 candidate and they selected me for the position but HR denied me employment because they felt I only had 4 years of experience in a particular skill instead of the 5 they needed. They said it was a hard denial but if I had one more year of experience they'd have hired me. I tried to explain how I did have 8 years but they said HRs decisions are final and not negotiable.

It is always sad when a company gives HR that much power in hiring.

You gotta be kidding me? Anyway that you can get in touch with the HR person or the hiring person and see what the problem is? One year more or less of experience makes no difference.

That is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Complete crap.

Sorry, man.

And the ironic thing is that nobody will blame HR when the hire with the additional year of experience walks out the door in 3 months.

I did get in contact with the hiring manager and pleaded my case showing the exact spot on my resume that shows I have 8 years' experience. This is when she said sorry but HRs decisions are final and they are saying you don't have the experience.

It's beyond ridiculous because the hiring manager said she really wants me on her team but can't get past the hard denial by HR. She said, per HR, you MUST have 5 years' experience in X, which I do, so I'm confused. I'm almost thinking maybe they are just spinning me a line of BS. But why even get into the whole "you were our #1 candidate" thing? I would have been fine if they just said, sorry we went with someone else.
