I really think they are way so many recruiters nowadays, most of them post fake jobs and want your resume in a word format

some of them also tell you not to apply for jobs on indeed or monster!

Posting fake jobs has always been my biggest issue with them.

What gets me is they all have "urgent" vacancies so I send my rate, they submit me after I sign the r2r form and then I never hear from them again. I ask for follow up and they say "we have not heard from the client" "we are checking on it"..here we are 30 days later, I've submitted probably 10 different positions and no one seems to know anything. Is this normal? What is the deal with these firms? Some of them don't even return my call or email after i inquire. That is extremely unprofessional, I wish I could rate the recruiters and/or their firms!
Data mining...Comparing what the client is paying compared to what you want. If low enough, you get the job, if not, no job....

I have never had a good experience with an Indian recruiter.........most use Google Voice lie say they are in the US when they are calling from India.

I have worked with 1 Indian recruiter in US ok, and my exp. seems to be similar to my network and that of CD as well.

Some recruiters use you for resume quotas too.

I'm kicking up this old thread. My frustration isn't with Indian recruiters - it's ALL "search firm type" recruiters that I'm totally frustrated with. Where do I start with the flaky and rude behavior of it all? I don't know if it's limited to the SF Bay Area. Here's the typical scenario: They go out of there way to reach out to you for a fabulous position. You spend 30 minutes talking to them. The recruiter fawns over the resume. The recruiter says they'll call you tomorrow with next steps, because they have to speak to their account manager. You never hear from them again. Rinse. lather. repeat.

I just went through this last week. I receive an email from the recruiter offering a position that required 5 years experience, I thanked the recruiter for sending me the job description but asked if there was anything that better suited my experience. He advised me to call him to discuss, which I did and he mentioned that "not to worry" and "your past experience is somewhat relevant", when I know deep down inside it's not. So I went for it anyways, spent 30-40 minutes on the phone with him, almost felt like a phone screen. Today I received an email, the employer is looking for someone more qualified, DUH it's what I told you the first time.

Never Ever Again.

A lot of them are trying to meet their contact quota and poach your manager references.

I don't anwser their calls, return their emails, nor even allow them to connect on LinkedIN anymore.

I don't apply to any jobs through "staffing firms" or recruiters. Useless to even bother. I have been applying for data analyst positions directly on company web sites. If I see a job ad from a recruiter (usually an Indian name) I don't even bother replying.

Of course I am still unemployed so take my advice with a grain of salt...

I wish I didn't have to use a recruiter. Unfortunately, 95% of my field uses them. I actually have a job interview for a position I found on Linkden but those are rare. I have come to the conclusion I have no choice but to go through a recruiter. ):
