I added the you get hired part myself before reading the article but it turned out to be true. Granted, this is in France but I bet it may be true here too.

Not sure what sorts of "anti-discrimination" regulations there are in FRANCE but I know from MANY human resources / recruiting professionals in the US that it is NEVER a good idea to include a photo with any application / resume UNLESS the job is for a MODELING OR ACTING GIG and even then it better come from a legit "talent agent" and some unsolicited mail-in.

A picture that shows obvious characteristics that are the basis of illegal discrimination against folks of certain race, age, religion, et cetera is NOT going to sit well with any professional workplace in the US.

In Europe and other parts of the world it's normal to have a photo on the resume. In a recent hire here I had someone apply from Germany, and was surprised to see the photo. In many years of hiring that was the first application from outside the country, and is still the only one I ever got with a photo. When it comes to the interview, a low-cut top or short skirt is going to be a negative here because male hiring managers do not want to be accused of hiring someone because they are "hot" and will avoid being in that situation. Obviously, when applying for a job as a waitress at Hooters, Tilted Kilt, Twin Peaks or the like, a photo and scanty dress is the only way to go.

Interesting that we are engaged in our own version of "hijab." Isn't it the same line of thinking that puts women under a cover to make them less attractive? It's only a matter of degrees.
