You ask for the salary range during the first interview with HR to ensure you aren't wasting your time, then don't bring it up again until HR tells you an offer is on the way. That's the way I've always done it.

I tend to doubt that. They were wanting to fill the position end of the year. But in this world all things are possible it would seem.

So I gave a call to them. HR is having "issues".

CEO asked to intervene on my behalf by Director.

good luck - hopefully they get back to you soon! Sounds promising though if the CEO is getting involved.

Well one of the posters here helped my motivation. =) And glad I did it before the holiday. Its a bit irritating to be courted by top people in the organization and learn that HR is having "issues" which prevent the smooth trip up there...leaves a bad rub in the process, maybe it's just me and I know that HR can be very pragmatic...but in this case there appears to be a breakdown in communication.

that is always a concern with a new company - hard to know if it's a systematic issue with the organization itself that may make you want to reconsider working there or not. Have you looked at employee reviews of the company? I always make sure to do that before i make a move to a new place.. Just realize that you will most likely see more negative reviews than good but look for trends in the comments. That's usually where the truth is. I tried working at two new companies after 10 years with my previous employer and found that the negative comments i read were absolutely true and i ended back up with my old firm (more money at least) but i wish i wouldn't have made the jump. best of luck.

I am going there in about in a couple weeks. They pay for 4 nights hotel airfare and auto. Good contact with Department head and plan for interview... he said plan to spend most of the day at the site.
