@hashtagusername, how long ago was your offense and what field are you specialized in? I feel like I have a theory but I won't know for sure till I get the clear. I've heard some positive and negatives about "ban the box", the negatives arising from findings that some companies don't abide by them. I truly hope for the best for you and anyone in our situation.

@AADAD, I am a little relieved simply because I didn't get an automatic "no", but I won't be fully relieved till I get the final approval. I'm not sure how long the review process takes but tomorrow is Friday and I'm hoping for some good news so that I can properly enjoy the Dream Cruise
Thanks again for your kind words 😊

UPDATE!
The onboarding specialist submitted my statement yesterday and I heard back from a member of the ethics division of the company's HR inquiring about the situation surrounding that event (this time around, I was speaking with the company and not the outsourced specialist). Here was my response,
"Many people in my situation dwell in their predicament, it takes a certain kind of mindset to get up and change their lives, and that's exactly what I've done. Now I won't sit here and play the blame game because at the end of the day, I had to make a decision of what's right and what's wrong and I chose the later. That was a bad judgement on my part that I regret and have fully taken responsibility of. I completed probation, paid the fines and restitution and have never looked back since then. I turned my negatives to positives and have not let my past be a stumbling block in my future"
Then he asked if I have access to sensitive client information in my current role and I answered yes, because I do.
Finally he asked if there is anything else I would like to disclose that they may find out in the future and I answered no, because I don't.
He said that he can definitely tell from my response my regret and that I have taken responsibility of my actions, he also stated that my progress since the event is very impressive. He has to present his findings to the rest of the panel and I will hear back sooner than later.
Today is the last day of week 3 of background check. I believe next week will be filled with great news!

I would recommend sealing your record. You can do that for a felony.
and its not excessive to get 1+yr for probation for writing a bad check.

Congrats!
Personally, I am against placing a stigma on people with a record. Everyone deserves another chance. And placing a stigma on people with a record and not hiring them is a sure way to push them toward crime again.
I'm very happy for you for having pulled yourself through! Remember. Don't ever give up. Have a wonderful time at your new job!

Woohoo! Congrats, OP! I haven't replied but have been following this thread. I love seeing stories of people turning their lives around and looks like you've done just that. You handled this excellently and I hope this job is everything you want it to be.
