Objective statement on Resume? (interviewer, employers, career, resumes)

I have used one and been hired but recently I have had recruiters say ditch it?

I like to use it in lieu of a cover letter at times since it's the top of resume it get their 15-30 seconds of attention.

I ditched "objective" in favor of "Career summary" and was much happier with it.

My opinion is that objective statement is completely useless. I have never used one, and the vast majority of resumes I see for openings do not include one.

I am in the minority and put a great value on a cover letter. I have a cover letter as a requirement for all openings that I lost, and I will reject candidates who cannot write a decent one.

Yeah, don't use it. I've seen far too many resumes with odd statements which aren't of help to employers. You only have a few seconds of them reading a resume to decide to continue looking at it, so don't waste it with an objective.

I had one up until about five years ago. They have fallen out of fashion which I am glad of. I could never write one I was satisfied with.

I haven’t used an “objective” in decades.
But whether there’s an objective on the resume or not, I don’t see how it takes the place of a cover letter. They don’t serve the same purpose at all.

This has been the trend for some time. Objective statement was a 90s thing.

Using an objective statement today just shows the interviewer that you are 40+ years old most likely.

I love looking at resumes today and seeing objective statements such as: To obtain the ____ position posted.

At least they're not beating around the bush. An objective that says anything else is just fluff.
