The point is if more people take a harder stance against low ball offers that don't take into account the areas taxes and COL then companies will have to start agreeing to employees terms a lot more often.

IF someone is truly desperate I recommend living out of your car and banking the money and leaving as soon as you have enough money to go back home for a year or two.

FWIW, I don't think CA takes the 13.3% on $100k. I believe it starts much higher than that, and it's likely only 13.3% for each marginal dollar earned above the threshold.
