I feel like there are two kind of jobs now a days. 34 hours and under and 40 hours with a chance at over time. I just got a call from a company I applied to for a full time position for a part time position that is totally different. It annoys me, because when filling out the application it asked if you were open to part time hours if the full time job was taken and I checked no. I feel like this has become really common. Even when I was working full time and interviewing many job asked me if I was willing to work part. All of these interviews were jobs where i applied for the full time job. I've seen it at my past jobs. Part timers rarely become full times. For anyone else who is job hunting, are you getting these part offers (when you applied for full time jobs)?

There will be even more of that as minimum wages go up. When it gets very busy, companies can have the part-timers work more hours and avoid having to pay overtime.

You should apply first and only for the full time job. Not mention anything about part time.
Only when denied the full time job, you should ask if there is a possibility to work part time.
