Let's say there is a posting for a job above entry level. Why are most of the applicants looking for the same job title with a new company? Are most just unhappy with their current company?

Take any job title and survey 10 companies and you will find them to have 10 different rates of pay and different benefits.
They will be in different locations, have different work spaces, different commute options, management styles, and corporate cultures. For those not ready for a promotion, unable or unwilling to accept additional responsibilities along with higher pay, it's a lot easier to apply for a better situation in a job with the same duties.
I have had several friends switch companies because when their coworkers retire or 'move on' the company just shifts the extra work to the remaining employees without offering increased pay.
I'm looking for a new job for more money and stability. With my workplace being understaffed, it becomes difficult to feel safe at my job.
