I started my MS right after I graduated from college so all I have is two internships only and no job experience.
I am absolutely desperate right now because all I get is invitations for interview and that is it. No one would offer me a job.

So I have this plan in my head: printing out copies of my resume and cover letter and going to every single oil and gas company in the city I live in and ask if they have any intern opening or part time job opening, and leave my resume.

Do you guys think it sounds like a good idea or I'd rather apply online?I have no clue how company representatives react on ones who just drop by with their resumes asking questions.

P.S.
Don't judge me when I say I have two internships only. I am an international student and moved to US 2.5 yrs ago. I can not work anywhere without work permit.
If you are getting interviews why would you need to drop your resume? Sounds to me like your resume is good if you are getting interview invitations.

Yes, but getting interview does not give me a job. So I am trying to see any other options

Regardless of how you get the resume into the company, if it results in interviews, both the resume and method of delivery is working. If those interviews are failing to produce any offers or even nibbles, you don't need to change the resume or delivery method, you need to change your presentation at the interview.

An accountant got a job this way at the CPA firm where I used to work. And during the Great Recession, the Wall Street Journal interviewed people who'd gotten jobs during the Great Depression. One lady got a job exactly this way. That said, even if oil and gas companies start hiring again, there may be more petroleum engineers than the market can absorb.

My first suggestion would be to find another way to make a living, but if you're set on petroleum engineering, you just might get a job this way.

This is the answer that you seek ^

If you are interviewing, they are hiring. No one interviews people for jobs that don't exist?

You need to figure out why you can't seal the deal.

tell us about the interviews? How long do they last? Are you able to effectively answer their questions? What do you do after the interview?

The impression I get after the interview is good. They literally tell me that they are interested in hiring me and ask about when I can start and what salary I want.
And to be honest, I literally ask for the minimum amount of pay as I am not running for money, all I want is to learn and get experience.
They get super impressed with my resume and etc., and at the end they hire someone who is not on F1 visa.
Interviews last usually for an hour.

Once the interview is over the next day I email sending a Thank You msg.
