I am currently employed, looking to switch role at a different company right now. While my current employer has treated me well, I just want a new challenge, with the perfect company, perfect culture, perfect location. Sounds almost too good to be true Anyways, I just started my search a month back and hoping it won't take longer than 6 months.. I'm also located in NYC so a great deal of companies/opportunities here.. but also a great deal of competition. Cross fingers! I actually got rejected from what I thought was the job of my dreams (just yesterday) but I'm keep a positive outlook and believe when one door closes, another one will open.

I've been rejected from the "dream job" before. It's an awful feeling at first, but sometimes you realize that it was for the better. I'm not religious at all, but I do believe in fate. Two years ago, I took a job that I later hated. However, the job was in a college town and allowed me to further my education and make a career change.

Last summer I was able to move to a new location and keep my job remotely, but they ultimately decided they wanted someone who could put in face time every day, so my job ended a week and a half ago and now I'm in a location I like, but I don't have a new job yet. It's only been a week and a half, but it's hard not having a job! At least it's warm and sunny outside though which helps. Good luck to you! Hope we both get good news soon!
