I know most of u say I'm being impatient but I've been through the hiring process before and i've never had anyone be this slow to reply after reaching out with an offer for an interview.
I went almost 8 months before hearing back from a job before. But I've always hear back eventually, some in a matter of hours of applying, others took that 8 months.
congrats on the response, now work on the interview skills
This has happened to me twice for the university of Chicago hospital. Luckily I had another job offer that hadn't started so I didn't care really. So very unprofessional though.

There was nothing unprofessional about what the NYU hiring manager did. They initially called OP on a Thursday, OP didn't respond until Thursday night after business hours.
No contact on Friday, but they did schedule an interview with OP on Monday for the following Wednesday.
I think most people would be happy with a 4 business day turnaround between initial contact and interview.
Please tell us your expectations for professionalism.

what happened to me is that University of Chicago contacted me multiple times about multiple jobs. they would set up phone interviews and NOT call. Then when I call them, they wouldn't answer the phone or emails I sent them.
A few weeks later one of those recruiters emails me back to set up another phone interview, which actually happens as it should. She tells me she wants me to have an in person interview with the hiring manager and will let me know is no more than 3 days. of course this doesn't happen, and I never hear back again when I follow up.
At this point, I probably WOULD not waste my time with them again due to the bad taste they've left in my mouth with this process multiple times.

Great. So what you are actually saying is that your experience with an entirely different employer had absolutely nothing to do with the OP, the OP's potential employer, or the process OP is experiencing.
Got the interview offer finally for Wed 6/21 @11am yay..I really need to work on my anxiety thanks to all who were supportive.
Good luck.
And remember in the future that some people are busy and also - I think - many people are not very good at responding to emails / questions in a timely (professional) manner.
Yes. OP -- sooooo how'd the interview go?
You stressed out so much about it. What's the update?
