Why is it that so many people who can't seem to find decent livelihood themselves think they can hang up the coaching shingle and make a living advising other people how to find work? I would be happy never hearing the words "passion" "purpose" or "mindfulness" used in the context of finding work, for the rest of my life. Zombie personal coaches multiplying rapidly and coming to a neighborhood near you soon.

I worked with several career coaches/job search "experts" and it is was a complete waste of time and money.

They all just rehash what you can find for free on the internet.

Not one was able to produce any results.

I am sure life coaches aren't much different.

Google away and read, all the information is out there.

I have been saying this for years.

I've had them approach me on LinkedIn. Every single one of them, their main selling point was they'll send me encouraging messages so I don't give up lol

Yeah, no thanks.

It's a sign of the times.

Things are getting rough and people need false hope to keep them from losing their minds.

When instead we need to accept the grim reality of today's economy and society and make drastic decisions and changes to how we live and our expectations.

What drives me crazy is when they talk, with a strange gleam in the eye and excited tone of voice, about how they found their "passion" and their "passion" always turns out to be they trained to be a life coach, regardless of what they studied in school or what their previous career was. A bit like a cult or ponzi scheme, when they start recruiting others for costly coach training.

I had a free session with one of these "job coaches" and instead of actual good job advice, it turned into a religious proselytizing. They were trying to convert me into some new age cult, and turn me into a disciple of some guru of theirs.
