I can't believe that this is a thread started in 2018. This seems like a 2010-2011 type discussion. Yes, companies will judge you over the domain of your email address. To do a post-2010 job search, you need to have a Gmail account. Gmail is considered the standard email provider now. Having an AOL, Hotmail/MSN, or Yahoo email address will be viewed less favorably by employers.

Not really. Gmail has so many users, that creating an account now requires a huge number of digits next to your name when creating a new account. That advice leads to strange looking email addresses.

janedoe23586798645846(at)gmail.com or janedoe(at)accountant.com Gee, I wonder which is more professional looking.

There are plenty who have their own domain or use mail.com's domains. I recommend them since there are plenty of professional looking email addresses without the need to add six tons of numbers to actually get an account.

By the way, google called, your check is waiting.

Exactly! Gmail is horrible and it violates your privacy. Maybe the employers who refuse to hire people who don't use gmail do so because they are looking for employees who willingly give up their privacy in order to get a job.

The really important information was a history of previous jobs, time at each job, duties, and contact information for previous supervisors.
