It seems that the the majority of people who win an opportunity with these companies were referred , met the right person or probably met someone at a career fair.

So why do these companies even have a career section if its pretty much useless?

They could easily get rid of the career section on their website and use their resources to hire interns and employees anywhere, instead of wasting the time of hopeful candidates.

Overall I think there should be more control on how job search work so people with degrees or experiences can find useful ways and methods to finding work.

You honestly don't have any idea how many people are hired or how they got their jobs, so you are not in a position to speak intelligently about their respective hiring process, or how useful or useless their career section is.

Agreed. It is mostly pointless but they have to do it to comply with labor law. They are largely wasting a lot of people's time interviewing endlessly and either hiring the internal candidate or not hiring at all.

The problem is not the careers site. The problem is the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) that they use to keep track of candidates once they enter their information into the system.

The ATS rejects 75% of people because they did not keyword spam or ATS optimize their resumes. Those resumes are never seen by any human being. They're just put into the memory hole. Doesn't matter how awesome your background is, you are not getting that job because the HR department will never see it.

Hence, people apply and hear nothing whatsoever.

There is a solution to this.

1) Add tons of keywords to every position, especially if the keywords are from the job ad being responded to.
2) ATS optimize your resume. There are free online websites that will do this for you, google for "ATS optimize resume" and you'll find them.
