I sent one after my interview on Friday and received a respond from the person )who would be my manger if I was offered the job) this morning. I’ve never gotten a response the day after I’ve sent an email or at all (I say a day after because they haven’t been in the office since because of Christmas). Is this a good or bad sign? Or no sign at all? They did say in the interview that they are interested and we had a good discussion, asked if I was interested and told me that I was only their second interview and they would be making a decision after the new year (like she said below). I ask because this is the first place I felt was a good fit.
Good Morning Adrian,
Thank you for coming by for your interview, it was nice to meet you.
We should be making a decision the first few days into January and will
keep you informed of our decision.
It means that the person who sent it is polite, but it isn’t a commitment one way or the other. Do not read too much into trivial communications like this.
A lot of employees, especially at the management and executive level are taking this week and most likely most if not all of next week off for the holidays.
Take it at face value: everyone who has a say in hiring anyone new isn't going to be in the office till the first few days in January, therefore no decision can me made until then.
