I did 4 interview in total with a foreign hedge fund company. 1st interview with the working level staff and 2nd interview with the head of trading. After that I have video interview with senior trader and co head in London. I sent all thank you letter after interview (all interview goes around 30-45mins and got replied on thank you letter) and the guy I met in my last interview said the head of trading in London said thanks for interest and trading head in Hk is running the process and will inform me how it goes. Do you think it is positive? It’s been a week already and the wait is killing me and painful. I know they should shortlisted 2-4candidate on this round. I am not sure if I should send a follow up email. Can anyone give some advice pls? Thanks.

They have been in contact with you, and said they would follow up. Contacting them isn't going to change anything or speed things along. If anything, it will show that you can't follow directions. One week isn't that long of a time, and things happen. I spent 15 hours today in meetings or putting out fires, meaning I didn't accomplish anything I set out to do today. Things happen.

Given Hong Kong is a bit of a mess right now I wouldn't hold my breath.

In the future please don't get hung up on any one employer. Think about it. You are just one of many options for them, treat them the same way. No such thing as a "Dream Job" anymore. Move on and keep interviewing until they get back to you.

Sadly the message board isn't a magic 8 ball. It is impossible to say. I truly wish employers were more transparent and let you know ASAP.

The only thing you can do is wait.

I'd just play it cool and hope for the best, but don't let it bother you. You can't control other people and what they do or don't do. And even if you're technically the 'best' candidate, you still can't force others to see it that way.

Stay positive and believe in yourself, but also be prepared that it won't work out, and that you might need to restart your job searching soon. If it works out - great; you can celebrate - but if not, you need to protect yourself.

We live in an imperfect world...

Four interviews, huh? Wow. The most I've had is two, and that seemed especially excessive.

Exactly correct. Don't wait for anything. Keep moving forward with other potential employers. Interview, interview, and interview. Accept the first offer that you are satisfied with.

Stop getting emotionally attached. It won't make the process go any faster. Keep applying for jobs.
