Look, all the comments above make good points, but the sad reality is that until you have the job offer, you don't have the job offer. So take whatever positives you can from the experience - use them to bolster your confidence and stay encouraged. Don't overthink it - just keep going as if you haven't got the job, and then, if they decide to offer it to you, you can do a little happy dance. And if they don't, nothing is lost (because you can't lose something you never had), and there's a bit more experience in your backpack.
I got the job offer! Yay! They have a long hiring process (make sure I'm still interested, then offer a salary) and will run a background check if I officially accept.

I'm 4 months into the job and I really like it. Great boss and good benefits. The boss told me that he was indeed hinting that he really wanted me for the job and he was hoping the long process wouldn't be an issue for me. So my gut feeling was right.

One never knows. I've heard some whoppers in my day, too. The randomness of interviews can be exhausting.
Glad it worked out, that's a good Xmas gift all things considered.

Yes, I feel very fortunate. Many are truly struggling this year.
