I despise interviews. I've gone through so many. And all I can say is, I've yet to have an interview where the people I was talking to actually knew what they wanted.

The gang interview, the pass-along interview... All as discussed prior in this thread, they stink

If there's anything that makes work less appealing and more of an ennui-ridden cancer on one's life, it's the interview process.

I had a short and dry interview at UPS for a seasonal driver helper position. The lady must have asked me 3-4 questions and the whole interview lasted 5-10 mins. I thought I didn't get the job but a couple weeks later they called me up to work.

Shortest interview I ever had was 3 questions long. It was for an Electrical Contracting company. Questions were:
1) Do you have your license? Answer was yes and here it is do you need a copy as I take it out of my wallet.
2) Have you done Hazardous location work before, specifically Gas stations? Answer was that I had done several and really liked it.
3) Asked a specific code reference by number, to which I answered with the wording of that section.

He handed me a set of blueprints and told me to take them home and get familiar with them because I was going out of town Monday morning with another guy to start the underground for that job. I just laughed and told him I liked the way he held an interview. He asked if $XX an hour would be good to start and we would talk in a couple of weeks about a good wage would be after he knew I could do it in the field like I knew the code. It was $5 or $6 an hour better than I was looking for, so I took the prints and loved the job. BEST boss I ever had over the years (Including myself )

I was at Subway a couple of days ago & when I was waiting for my sandwich to get wrapped and I paid (what? 2 minutes or less?)a girl came in, handed her app to the manager, the manager said something about her working at another Subway a few years before, then asked the girl if she could start on Monday at 10:00. The girl said yes and left. I think the whole interview was maybe 3 minutes....across the counter at the register!!!! That just shows how hard up businesses are for "warm bodies" here in Gillette, Wyoming. Some fast food places can't even stay open during lunch because they don't have enough help. Some are closed down altogether! The town is booming and people can get paid much more elsewhere. Fast food starts at about $10/hr. How crazy is that?

Mine are usually all day long. But I wouldn't expect that from a CSR position at a pizza place!

The longest was when I flew down to LA for an interview that turned into a 2 day business trip. I wound up giving 3 presentations, two that had my name on the org chart. I figured my negotiating position was pretty good after that.

I thought I was only flying down for the day so they gave me the company credit card and told me to go shopping at Nordie's for a few changes of clothes.
