There are also plenty of companies out there that love the prospect of having flexible people working on projects and on site. Right now there are millions of Americans not working and if a staffing company is able to get those people working then all the power to them. Even in an up economy, the ability to have flexible contractors on board is a way to save on personnel expenses. Again sorry for you and your friends bad experience but it's not that way everywhere.

He was responding to my post and I am neither.
What I am is someone who has seen how recruiters work. It is so sad.

What are you talking about? You know absolutely nothing about me other than what you have read in a few posts. You know nothing about the company I work for nor do you know anything about my personal business practices.

All I have stated is a) not all staffing agencies are in the bad...are a lot? Yes but not all. b) there is value in using staffing companies if they are a business partner and not a vendor and c) depending on your use for contract talent there is a tremendous value in it. That is it.

Where in there did I present myself as someone who treats the talent that walk through our doors like dirt or beneath me or anything like that? Please show me.

If "a lot" of them are in the bad, then naturally the rest (minority) will be smeared by association. Perhaps instead of complaining about the injustice of how poorly staffing agencies are viewed because of this, it would make more sense for those who are legitimate and honest to take steps to penalize, shun and, in general, clean up the bad apples in the industry rather than turn their heads and let them run wild and then complain that the industry is viewed with suspicion by the general public.

Simple...all you have done is talk about how you are different, how you and your agency are better. The truth is you aren't, you are all alike.

And yes recruiters are useless, they are un-accountable people. When you hold no accountability then you are useless.
Well that's just a stupid generalization.

I was a recruiter for about two years. Often times I made the decision for which candidate would start working for our client.

You can say that recruiters are useless, but you're dead wrong.

No, I am NOT wrong. You are looking at your situation through rose colored glasses. The arrogance in your comment that you often times made the decision who went to work and who didn't only works to prove my point.

If you think that I am in the minority with feeling as though recruiters are useless, then feel free to go to google and do some research. We can't post links here or I would supply them.

Then we shall agree to disagree. You are obviously too jaded by the staffing industry to accept the fact that not all agencies are subsidiaries of hell. Take care and I truly wish you nothing but the best.

I don't wish ill will on anyone myself.

You are right, I am jaded...time and time again recruiters/agencies have been given the opportunity to redeem their *profession* and all they can give to me is...we aren't all alike.

Actions speak much louder than words.

I agree. Unfortunately you can say the same thing about many other major industries (Pharma, Finance, Retail, Software, Technology, Electronics, Automotive, etc). Usually the ones who penalize and shun are the customers and the talent in the staffing industry as opposed to the actual companies themselves. Would it be great to have better regulations, oversight and guidance? Of course.....but usually being in the minority or being the little guy makes pushing that cause difficult and expensive and if you are dealing with corporations with billions upon billions of dollars they end up winning. As sad as that is.

Good luck to all searching for work. I wish nothing but the best.
