Starting Tomorrow, I am no longer looking for a job on careerbuilder or monster (jobs, company)

I've found that networking is the best way to get a decent job. Contact your past colleagues and let them know you are looking. Just this morning I have a real shot at a job because of a previous colleague recommending me to a company out of Virginia.
Both sites are too well known and i probably don;t stand a chance to get notice using either site. I have to figured out another way to find a job but i won't use neither one of those sites ever again.
Now the hard part is sitting up all night with a glass of juice figuring out what is my new job search plan so I can find out what jobs are available in my local area
I would not give up on monster or careerbuilder. You don't have to use them to search for jobs but keep your resume updated and searchable. I thought I remember reading that 4 out of 5 employers that use those sites do not post their employment opportunities. They use it to search for workers. That way they do not get overwhelmed with resumes. I am at my current job because they contacted me.

These days I would keep all your options open.
Yeah that would probably be a lot better than searching

I just looked at my resume and out of 4 searches there were 2 clicks by an employer. So i guess that means it's a possibility i will get a call back. Not really sure

I agree. I work in marketing. There was an open position and our director started looking at resumes posted on monster. I took my resume off monster because they searched it so much I did not want them to know that I was looking for employment elsewhere. Also, when my resume was searchable, companies would contact me for possible interviews. But that was 3 years ago when jobs were plentiful.

Networking is always the best option.
Using Monster or Careerbuilder, you can always exclude your company from seeing your resume.
I mean is that safe-really? Posting one's home address and phone number, etc online? I've never thought it a good idea. Just wondering.
You can also exclude personal contact info on Monster or Careerbuilder. The potential employer will contact you through the same type of method that Craigslist uses, which is anonymous.
