Teller jobs have always had aptitude tests. I took one 30 years ago. Banks are governed by Federal law that requires things like finger printing and background checks. It doesn't sound like you are cut out to work in a bank, it's all about rules and regulations. Banking is one of the few careers that you can move fairly quickly into well paying positions without a college degree and with all your training paid for by your employer. It's also a career that a woman can step away from for a decade to have a family and go back to at the same level that she left.

$10 an hour and all you risk every day is being told at gunpoint to put all the money in the bag...

No thanks.

I worked for Suntrust as a bank teller in the mid 90's and had to leave the bank to get a job that paid anything. It was very difficult to get considered for anything corporate once you were stuck in a branch. Once you leave (on good terms), it's near impossible to get an interview to get back in. If I had been able to get a decent job there, I would have stayed, but everything has to go through HR and they were impossible to talk to.

OK, you couldn't perform the basic functions of the job, but the bank sucks. Got it.
