Six applicants had no license, even though the heading in the ad read Licensed Widget Technician. Only one of more than two dozen enclosed the requested "sample management report and compliance letter". Only one of those interviewed brought the samples to the interview when asked.
That makes HIF mad. It makes HIF think that they can't even comprehend simple directions. HIF thinks that if they can't do this when they are trying their hardest to get the job, that they will not do a good job if they were hired.
I am just getting the candidates for the board to interview and they will make the decision. So far one has been deemed not right BC she wore heels and another BC he wore a sport coat and tie. The job involves walking the property- but this was at the interview! One, an older man that I think is perfect, deemed too experienced....even though this is an encore career for him. He is looking for the right fit for his lifestyle, not moving through the ranks to a higher salary. There is no career track with this position. And another, a woman younger than the board, deemed too old.
So, between the applicants that are on the fringe and the board's unrealistic expectations, I'm not seeing any love connection in the offing! In this economy, it is flabbergasting to me.

I know that at one law school the H.R. people tell you to go ahead and apply even if you don't meet all the requirments.
I know that when I put an ad for an I.P. tutor, I got resumes from people who did not have what i wanted, and then lectured me on what I should be looking for...
I think that is why you get the big bucks to cull the chaff from the pearls...

good luck!
I agree with applying even if you don't have all the requirments. That's how I go this job- by pointing out the transferable skills that I have from my previous career. But it's kinda hard to work in a professional that requires a license if you don't have one.
You were lectured? OMG, that's too funny. How did you respond?
Wait a minute- I'm supposed to be getting the big bucks?! Man, my director never got that memo! I start a new job next week for bigger bucks, though, and no HR responsibilities. WOO HOO!
Wow!! congratulations!! I hope you like the new job...
and yes, people did lecture me on my own ad, that i paid 25 bucks to place...
and I didn't answer them,,just deleted.
I was just happy that I got a two great resumes!
