So let me guess this right. A job posting on Craig's List was updated and posted again the next day? It's normal. The search function on Craig's list is not that advanced so the person posting just refreshes it on a daily basis to keep it at the top. The job websites and aggregate websites have better search functions so they do not need to be refreshed as often (craig's list is also free so refreshing makes sense).

Maybe they laughed at your resume or maybe they are going to consider you but they are not going to take one resume and run with it. They are going to want multiple candidates for the position because there are tons of people looking so why stop on day one?

As negative and skeptical as you come across on this forum I really hope your tone when talking to people and potential employers is not the same. You seriously need to relax and I know that you are really looking for a job but if an employer senses desperation it will really turn then off. Just relax and be more optimistic.

No the job was first posted on a site called-"opportunitynics.org" on thursday. And then I say it again on Craiglist today.

He has the patience of a gnat. Sometimes I believe other things as well. I don't know how he had a job as a background verifier or a career counselor or whatever it was for 10 years. His posts here are that of a fifth grader with ADHD, (no offense to anyone with that syndrome) His questions on this forum, and other forums which by the way, are exactly cut and paste identical quotes are wierd to say the least, let alone juvenile. This boy needs career counseling, not vice-versa.

it will drive you nuts if you try to figure it out. it all has no meaning until they hire you.
i have often been 2nd or 3rd pick of the draft. the one they picked and "knew" was right for the job turned out to be a mess.

I'm going to be impatient when receiving unemployment compensation, who wouldn't?

You completely missed the point of sinsativ's posting...which can't possibly be accidental.

Intead of trying to read tea leaves, or into conincidences, it is better to show restraint...and not show desperation......

We post the same ad in a lot of different venues. Some are free - like craigslist - and others are not. Until the recent economic downturn, we had trouble getting enough applicants to create a decent pool of qualified candidates. We would post the position in multiple publications and online and would send copies of the ads to some of the nearby colleges. I work for state government, and the pay is only so-so. Two years ago we had vacancies, and could not get any qualified applicants. We had to change the classification from entry level to an intermediate level, which meant raising the minimum qualifications, but also meant raising the beginning salary offer, in order to hire someone. We recently had an opening for the same position, and had over 20 qualified applicants for the entry level position. We interviewed all 20, and then selected the one who best fit our needs. But out of the 20 there were at least 8 or 9 that I would have been comfortable hiring.

how important is being likeable?? Is it experience, education, and likeability/social skills, salary requirements? or the inverse?
