Although I currently have a job, I am always in the market for a better paying position, and one in my field of expertise (marketing).

On a fairly regular basis I answer advertisements on Craigslist and my local Job Service, and occasionally ones in the newspaper with my resume and cover letter.

Before I continue, let me say that when it comes to marketing I have some pretty impressive and extraordinary skills and experience. For the area that I live in, I'm fairly certain that I am in the top 5 percentile insofar as quality of experience and education are concerned. In other words, I am probably one of the BEST candidates that reply to the postings.

Nevertheless, I rarely get a call fo an interview. Yes, I know the economy sucks right now. Normally, my phone would be ringing off the hook, but right now, it's like pulling teeth to even get anyone to ACKNOWLEDGE that they received the resume.

I have tried many different approaches - even "creative" ones (since I am in marketing), thinking that something unique would get their attention - no luck! I am starting to get discouraged because I know that my qualificaitons are really outstanding for the positions I am applying for.

Do any of you have any suggestions what to try to break that "no call back" barrier? I'm kind of at a loss here.
