Yup when it comes down to two jobs offers with simlar salary the commute is always the deciding factor.
Wrong again Fruit Loop. There are many other things to consider. Work/Life balance, PTO, benefits including 401K match, ability to telecommute where applicable, perks like health club memberships, not having a room mate when traveling on corporate functions, the list goes on.

In the company B example, there's also the negotiating period. For example, Company A gives X salary, Y relocation benefits, and Z everything else benefits. You accept company A's offer. Then company B comes in with an offer; wisely you tell them you need time (but really you want to get to a final point with them ASAP so you can back out of A's offer before company A progresses too far with your processing). It will probably take a week or two working with company B to get to their final offer, especially if it includes relo. It's tough to deal with the time. Ultimately it comes down to how much of a heel (there's a nice 1940s word) you want to be to company A if you take B's offer.
I accepted a job 2 months ago, trained, and am working the job, the job is not me! I really want my former job back with the same company It's less pay but I don't care, I LOVED my other job!
hi! can anyone help me how to write a back out letter for my agency? i already accepted the job offer and signed the contract , until now im still waiting my visa for almost a year, everytime i call my agency to follow up it seems no feedback from the employer. im tired waiting for so long and now i decided to back out and i would like to get my passport and some payments ive made for. looking for your quick reply.. thank you!
I once accepted a job, found a better job before the start date, backed out of my written offer letter a few days before start date.
Turns out second job sucked. A few months later called back first company to ask if I could have job, they made me re-interview and I got job. Worked there a few years and had a few promotions.

So much for bridge burning.
I think your experience is the exception rather than the rule. I can see most places simply ignoring a candidate who tried to inquire again after backing out of a job offer. Nonetheless, I'm glad things worked out for you.
