I’ve opened up my mailbag and there seems to be a theme of two extremes among some job seekers in today’s economy — those who want to leave the country, and those who want to get closer to home.
Yes they are out there somewhere, but even with certifications in IT it is far more difficult to make contact with the hiring folks overseas.
US IT does a) not have the best reputation when it come to technical knowledge (no offense please), b) dito when it comes to work ethics such as overtime ...
Where are you trying to go? Have you looked into visa requirements?
I actually looked into overseas jobs since 2008 and how found that most Americans would find the market for more competitive than the offerings stateside. Most business/banking positions I reviewed required extensive skills, degrees or certifications obtained, and 7-10+ years of experience.
summer22, many times you can find overseas employment opportunities directly with the employer you may have interest in.
I've worked abroad. The biggest downside in my experience is the communication barrier. Not so much at work, but outside of work. You go to a local pub/bar/restaraunt and you can't even socialize with anybody. It sucks.
