However I don't have an office. This is sale work so I dont need to have an office for them to work.
Whats the best way to conduct an interview? over the phone? a meet at Starbucks?

I've heard a job interview being conducted at the table next to me at a Starbucks. I sort of felt bad for the applicant - I wouldn't really like to have a job interview in public.
You could find out if your public library has a small meeting/study room that you can reserve.

I have been interviewed in coffee shops--it was fine and I was more relaxed than I would have been in an office. Wait, you said you're hiring? I'll be right there!

What kind of interview did you have? I suppose a fairly informal, more relaxed interview would be ok in a coffee shop. One of those interviews where the hiring manager is just trying to get to know you and see if you would be a good fit for them wouldn't be so bad in public.
When I've been interviewed, I had those typical HR formal interviews. The ones where they ask you questions like "Tell me about a time when you were in a specific situation, how you handled it, and what the final result was." That's the type of interview that I wouldn't like to do in public.

When I read this I thought about where I have seen business and interviews conducted the last few years. Starbucks, Caribou Coffee, Kinko's, the library and various eateries are a sample. See if you can find somewhere with a bit of privacy. A table away from everyone is better than no privacy at all.

Coffee shops are a bad idea. They are extremely noisy, they are filled with distractions, and there's no guarantee that you'll get a seat. What if every table is taken when you get there? No candidate is going to be at their best in such an environment, and you won't make a very good impression on them either.
Rent a conference room somewhere, from a hotel or a library or Regus.

Ask any local hotel if they have very small meeting rooms to rent for a day. I've done that several times.

Over the phone then meet at starbucks if they are good quality.
Questions should focus on tasks at hand and qualifications....don't dominate the conversation and don't be their "best friend".

What about at your local library? Most have quiet rooms or sections where you could have interviews.

I would think that interviewing in a coffee shop would be a good thing for the employer, especially if its a sales job dealing with a lot of people.
