I got a job interview through a recruiter last Wednesday and he told me that he was going to try to find some feedback from the employer that same afternoon.

Haven't heard back from him. Should I contact the recruiter or does it mean that I didn't get the job?

He should have at least gotten back to you and told you if he had heard anything one way or another, or that he at least tried to get some feedback from the employer.

In my experience, no feedback from the recruiter within a few days usually means the employer wasn't interested. But regardless, you should call the recruiter. Some call, and some don't, when you don't get the job. I have never known a recruiter to move slowly when the employer is interested.

Definitely call the recruiter.

I agree with you on this. It would be a nice gesture if recruiters, HR people etc. would at least make a quick phone call and give the job hunter heads up one way or the other. No one is so busy that they cannot make a courtesy call takes just a minute and sets the job hunter at ease.

I did call. Recruiter just told me that they are still interviewing other folks. Will get back to me this afternoon.

I hope I'm wrong, but "still interviewing" is usually code for "we still want someone else." If a company is interested enough, they'll stop the interview process/let you know you have the job, but interview the remaining people just to give people a "fair chance."

Please keep us posted on the outcome, though.

I'm sorry.
I once applied for a bank teller job at SunTrust bank. The recruiter called me at 8.30 pm on a week day. I was putting my 2 year old son to sleep and heard the phone but decided to let the answering machine take it because I was taking care of other business. When I'm done with my task I go over to the phone and listening to message left on the answering machine about 5 minutes earlier. It was the Suntrust recruiter that had called and she gives me a number to call her back that night. I call back right away and no one answers. I keep calling but nothing. I leave a voice mail but no one calls me back. The next day I keep calling but no result. After 3 days she finally asner the phone and she rudely explains for me that because she could not get a hold of me she decided to call someone else.
