My question is, especially in light of the current UN controversy, why do Jewish people tend to vote Democrat?
I am center right-leaning (voted for Obummer in 2008, Romney in 2012, write-in for 2016) but many of my people are so consumed with what is known as Tikkun Olam, or broader social justice efforts. Most people who are born ethnically Jewish (halachically [according to Jewish law] that means they were born to a Jewish mother) are highly educated and tend to live in major coastal cities which are proxy for Democratic party.
Tikun olam happens when a Jew lives a Jewish life. Tikun olam is the result and byproduct of a Jew following halachah and engaging in Torah study prayer mitzvot.
When a Jew chooses secular values instead of living a Torah life it is the antithesis of tikun olam. When a Jew rejects Torah and replaces Torah with the ways of the nations it is akin to idolatry.
Quotes that follow are from article with link below
"It is individual observance of halakha, Jewish law, which is the way to repair the world.
"For Jews those Mitzvos include not simply socially or politically correct precepts such as giving charity..., but also observance of the Sabbath, dietary restrictions (Kashrus), daily prayer, and other commandments which seem to have fallen out of favor and are ignored, if not openly denigrated and violated, in some segments of the community, as they substitute the false panacea of something they call Tikkun Olam for the authenticity of true Judaism, clinging desperately to Tikkun Olam to avoid their actual responsibilities as Jews to observe the Torah and the commandments."
That video is rather chilling particularly around 1:20. And around 3:55 is telling. Ok the whole video its only 5 minutes. Thanks for the link.
All I can think of is someone trading in something of great beauty and value for something counterfeit.
Look, all the outrage is not gonna cut it. I mean, I basically agree with you but the issue is the following : You cannot make people who grew up secular believe in God. It's impossible. If there's no belief in God, the Torah and thus the commandments become useless and a fairytale. Then they get made into sth secular people can relate to namely tikkun olam as defined by secular Jews.
What's the solution for this dilemma. You have one?

Emunah and bitachon.
Torah prayer and mitzvot.
The prayers and mitzvot and Torah study of a single Jew have incredible power to light up heaven and earth.
Light eliminates darkness. It always has and it always will.
May Hashem put into the heart of every Jew a yearning and desire to draw close to You, to increase our level of observance, to improve our Jewishness. May the words of Your Torah taste sweet in our mouth.

Well, yes I get it. But in a practical way that is not an answer to the dilemma at hand.

No intermarriage.
