I hang mine over the edge of the bath tub.i used to lay it flat on the top of the toilet tank but recovering from a shoulder injury too difficult to reach back. So now on the tub edge. When I have stayed at kosher overnight lodging it is on the back of the toilet. At shul it's usually a box of kleenex.

In general, you’ll find many/most Jews are very tolerant of it. But the Torah is abundantly clear that it’s an abomination. But take that at face value at your own risk. It’s a complex subject.
