Ok now what are some of the books folks like by Jewish authors?

I went to a renewal shabbat service led by Rabbi Marcia Prager which was wonderful.

The book she wrote that I read was "The Path of Blessing"

Philip Roth, "The Great American Novel." (If you thought I was going to say "Portnoy's Complaint," well, you were wrong!)

This doesn't really constitute authorship, but I really like Robert Alter's translation/commentary of Torah, Psalms, and Samuel.

Yes, his books were very good and I had the honor of meeting years ago as his daughter was my classmate and friend for one year that we were in the same class and school.

Other good Jewish authors that I read years ago were Bernard Malamud and Saul Bellow.

Another more recent author is Talia Carner who wrote the book "Jewish Maiden" (although the book itself isn't new).

I'm a big fan of Rabbi Joseph Telushkin.

His Jewish Literacy and Code of Jewish Ethics (Vol.1 and 2) are phenomenal.
