Please be nice, folks. It's the haseras yemay t'shuva. Not a good time for hatred towards your fellow Yid.

I guess not since you responded to the other thread at 7:43 and skipped even answering this query.

Why not to fly on ELAL the morning of Yom Kippur Eve.
After flight delay, passengers hoping to make it to Israel for Yom Kippur (almost) stranded

A passenger stated the following:
Quote:
Amid the frenzy of frustrated passengers, Aby Handler, from London, told The Jerusalem Post that he was traveling to Israel just for Yom Kippur, to Sade Gur (fwiw it's a Hasidic community) in Bnei Brak.

"It's a very big disappointment," he said. "Why can't Ben Gurion accommodate people coming 2.5 hours before the chag?"
Keep in mind that nearly everything started closing around noon in Israel so the citizens of Israel can do their final preparations for YK. So again we have to deal with Ultra Orthodox mentality that they are more important than anyone else. Do they think that some of the people who work at Ben Gurion are not Orthodox? Or not Orthodox enough?

The Torah and its Mitzvos are obligatory on all Jews, no matter the level of observance. Does it say in the Torah anywhere that Jews should do less than the required Mitzvos in order to make those Jews who are not observing the requirements "feel good?"

It seems strange that Ben Gurion and El Al would not invoke their Israeli Arab employees for holidays just for this reason.

The easy answer for Americans: "Unions". Everyone is under the same rules. The much more in-depth answer is to turn this thread into a thread that covers the 613 Mitzvot where one cannot make another work on a sabbath. Better to create a new thread for that query.
