How will our Seders be approached in a few weeks?

What are your plans during this social distancing?

I'm already stuck in the house with my family. The seder will be just us, having sedarim as usual.

It'll be just me and my man at home, as well.

Every year we attend the second-night community Seder at my synagogue. But there will be no community Seder this year, of course. I don't have any kids, and I will especially miss smiling to see our congregation's children hunting for the afikoman or running to open the door to welcome in Eliyahu HaNavi. Our congregation is my extended family.

But not being able to attend the community Seder isn't as depressing a thought for me as the thought of possibly losing some of our more vulnerable members if we're not careful. So I'm fine with just the isolated, at-home Seder.

Passover will be celebrated even in spite of this pandemic, just as the Jewish people have endured other hardships over many generations.

Shavua tov

Thank you Rachel for your thoughtful response.
Rosends, same here.

Puts a different spin on the plague aspect.
We have our boxes of delicious matzah waiting!

It'll be just me and and the wife at our home in the US. It's the first time in close to 30 years we're not in Israel with my family members.

Default A Virtual Passover Seder?

I spoke to a friend in Israel yesterday and she told me they are planning to do a Passover seder via Zoom due to the quarantine restrictions. What do you think you will doing differently this year for the Passover seder/s due to the Coronavirus outbreak?

A zoom seder could be interesting, but impossible to pull off for a Torah Observant Jew. Gonna shelter in place with the wife and kids and make a seder. Iy’H. We make seder both nights every year anyways, so just less (no) guests is the only real change.

My mom is an Atheist, dad is a Christmas-Easter Catholic; for the past two years, I've been going out for Seders through local groups. I can't do that this year, but my parents agreed to letting me hold my own Passover this year at home. I have recipes and I'll make some things, we'll also buy some things too. I still participate in Easter out of respect, so I will just save some of that food for Easter. We'll be celebrating all holidays at home for the time being.

I'm hoping I can find a zoom Seder. That would be neat.

For those of you who have never conducted your own seder before, if you have any questions how to do any of it, I’m happy to assist, as I’m sure many other capable folks here are as well. Ask away...
