Mensaguy responded to me in one of my postings with this:

If a word is defined in the Sticky thread, I don't intend to insist that an English translation be provided every time a word is used.
I thought that this would be a good opportunity to bring everyone together on a forum project. So, if you want to participate, just post your Hebrew/Yiddish words with their English meanings here in this topic. Then Mensaguy can periodically add his choice from the submitted words to the Sticky thread that Woodrow (may his memory be for a blessing) started long ago.

Not yet. I think that it takes at least a moderator to do that.

Davka. I don't know exactly how to explain what it means, though.

Right. Also, a Mod can compile all the submitted words into one single, alphabetical list in that sticky thread. That's to make it easier to search for forum members unfamiliar with certain terms.

It does indeed require a moderator to open or close a thread. We don't normally open the Sticky threads that contain rules, etc., because somebody always adds a post that doesn't need to be there.

I think we can let this thread take its course for a while and see what develops. I would hope we end up with a list of words with brief definitions.
