You misunderstood me perhaps. I didn't mean they wouldn't be seen as ethnically Jewish. I meant they may not be seen as "Jewish" in the sense of correct Jewish religion. I can only imagine that Judaism does believe in the concept of heresy, and that some 100% Jewish people can nevertheless deviate from proper Jewish religion.
About 85% of American Jews deviate from normative Judaism. Truth is, even the other 15% do some times. Not easy being a Yid. But a yid is a yid.
