Today I took out the synagogue library the book The Thirteenth Tribe by Arthur Koestler. It is about the Khazar empire. I've heard previously that advocacy of the Khazars is a bit sneaky and anti-Semitic, essentially undermining the Jews claim to being erase as well as a religion, and to the Jewish claim to the state of Israel. Have you read this book or heard of this book or of this author?
Koestlers book has provided anti Semites with pseudo scientific bases for their claims that Jews aren't Jews. It is offensive and disproven stuff but no one cares about that part.

Indeed. It is well-established that Ashkenazi Jews are of approximately equal parts Levantine and Southern European ancestry, with little to no Western, Central, or Eastern European admixture. Between the book’s refuted scientific claims and its awful anti-Semitic legacy, there’s really no legitimate purpose or value in reading it today.
If you want to learn more about Ashkenazi Jewish genetics (and/or the origins of other Jewish ethnic divisions), there are far better ones to choose from. I’ve heard good things about Harry Ostrer’s Legacy: A Genetic History of the Jewish People.

To Rosends,I thought that may be the case.I printed out the pamphlet Chava linked.
I printed out this article and will read it, probably in lieu of the book. After reading Goodreads reviews and remembering some discussion I understood its mischievous potential. This review (a five star) gave me some serious qualms (link) which I checked further. Apparently this reviewer champions Nordic stock, like another historical figure whose name I won't mention because of Godwin's Law.

Apparently this reviewer champions Nordic stock, like another historical figure whose name I won't mention because of Godwin's Law. The mischief comes from the fact that the Hebrews are stripped of their multi-thousand year-old history from the Tanach, and relegated to the status of another tribe from the steppes of Asia much like the Huns. Gone would be the history of Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Joshua, the Prophets, the Maccabees, Hillel, Shami, Akiba, Maimonides, Nachmonides, and others, too many to count. Gone would be the connection to the Holy Land.

White supremacists love the Khazar theory not only for the reasons you point out, but also because it denies Ashkenazi Jews the “consolation prize” of being white (from of their perspectives).
