Was wondering if anyone could tell me of the last name Steinfeldt is Jewish. The name came from a family from Northern Germany. Not sure if this is a German last name or Jewish or if the two are the same.
Can anyone familiar with the history of last names answer this?

Not 100% sure but probably not.You can check Jewishgen.org (I think thats the wesite). Its a genealogy website now linked with Ancestry.com
You can actually have a German and Jewish last name at the same time. I think though that it might be just German or Austrian.
