One out of five Americans who consider themselves culturally or ethnically Jewish say they do not believe in God or they do not follow any particular faith, in a sign of the changing nature of American Jewish identity, according to a study released on Tuesday.

The Pew Research Center survey found vast differences among generations – with 93 percent of Jewish Americans born between 1914 and 1927 saying they identified as religiously Jewish, compared with just 68 percent of Jews born after 1980.

Not this nonsense again? If you believe in Jesus, you are not a Jew. There is not a Jew in the world who believes Jesus was a man god.

And Yes, that Pew Research Report is deeply troubling. A major portion of American Jewry already has one foot out the door. But it's never too late to do t'shuva.

I agree no true Jew believes that Jesus was the messiah.

I don't find the Pew Research Report surprising.

Neither do I. 1 in 4 Americans are nonreligious. If you think of Jews as an ethnic group rather than a religion, that would imply they are actually more religious than the average American.

So? On the other side of the coin four out of five Americans who consider themselves culturally or ethnically Jewish say they do believe in God.

Its still better than the national average.

I don't think that it can be "many". What is the definition of "many"?

This contradicts the posts above you that defines being Jewish based on what one believes....

Is it an "ethnic group" or a "religion". Choose one.

Unless you believe in Jesus, then it is only a religion.
