I live in Kansas City, MO. with my own family...now, that my kids are grown up and now going to Elementary school. I'm a housewife and have been taking care of the house since the babies were born....sadly to see them gone to school during the whole day from Monday thru Friday. Now, I'm left out all alone thinking of something else to do than sitting here and do the laundry and clean the house....that drives me nut, you know how being a stay-home mom is. Anyway, I'm here to ask for your help if you can tell me where I can find something to get my life started by going to school or a job training program, like EEO or vocational, first to let you know that I am a hearing impaired, I do not know what to start with....where should I call because I am not familar to any places in Missouri, we came here from San Diego, California. Any info. would be greatly helped. Thanks a bunch.

The school is located at Santa Fe (135th) & Kansas City Rd in Olathe, Kansas.

If you would like, I can write a review about it and have it put on http://www.helpkc.com (broken link) .

Default Help for Mom

You said you are hearing impaired. I take it you can hear but with difficulty??
If you are looking for volunteer work there are any number of places that would love your help. For schooling, check with the Metropolitan Comm. College. You live in-district if you are in the greater KC area and they have assistance for many kinds of handicaps. Also, there are such things as bowling leagues that are mostly mothers in your same situation, and other organizations. If there is something you enjoy yourself, try organizing some of the other mothers in your area. Check with your children's school to see what they know about. Of course being involved in the Parent organization at their school is one of the best ways to learn about these things.
Good luck

Default We could use your help

As a volunteer coordinator for a local hospice organization it would be a pleasure to visit with you about opportunities to help this special group of people. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

What are your interests? There is a demand for nursing and related-type work. The pay is not good, but training for personal care assistants or certified nurses' aides does not take too long, and if you happen to love helping people, it might be just the thing for you. You have to really want to help the sick, elderly, and/or disabled. If you find it is your calling, you can always go on to be a licensed practical nurse, or a registered nurse.
