That's right, Rob. When you think about chocolate beer it's usually a stout or a porter. But Boulevard's was an amber ale with a very distinct cacao flavor--not sweet at all. It's part of the Smokestack Series, which are all fine beers, imho, and packed quite a punch at 9.1%. I had it on tap at Flying Saucer where they went through 10 kegs in 48 hours!

Apparently McCoy's has some set aside. They're closed until March 4 for kitchen renovations but I guess they'll pull it out sometime after they reopen.

The bigger news might be that McCoy's has a stock of Boulevard's Chocolate Ale that they held back. If you missed your window to try the limited release brew that caused a minor buying frenzy around Valentine's Day, you'll get a second chance at McCoy's sometime in the next few months.
McCoy's, closed for kitchen renovations until March 4, has a small reserve of Boulevard's Chocolate Ale - Kansas City Restaurants and Dining - Fat City

If anybody is still interested in trying the Chocolate Ale, Beer kitchen will be tapping a keg per day on March 8-10 at 6:00pm sharp. They kicked off the festivities today and sold out in 20 minutes. I recommend getting there early to ensure a pour.
