It’s tough to say who’s funding Kansas City e-tax opponents

All this clandestine stuff makes me suspicious of them.

I'm honestly surprised by how little I've heard about this issue in general -- though I would hope that most efforts are being fought in the northland where the ballot measure is in most threat of failing. What else is going to be on the ballot that day? Anything? I can't imagine turn out will be very good.

There may have been a time to get away from the e-tax in Kansas City but this does not appear to be the time to do it. I don't think the real estate market can bear the increased property taxes or that municiplaities will stomach increased sales taxes required to make up for the e-tax should it be successfully oppossed by those living outside of the Kansas City metro area.

There was a blub on the local noon radio news about the lack of transparency behind the opposition.

from the OP's linked article:
Quote:
Freedom PAC officials say donors are kept secret for a reason.“They fear retribution by the city,” said Freedom PAC spokesman Jason Klindt in an email. “People that have gone public with their opposition have been targeted with earnings tax audits and other regulatory action. Anyone who thinks the heavy hand of prejudice and payback is dead at City Hall has never opposed the money changers.”

If this is tru the MO-AG needs to be investigating! Kansas City City Hall is corrupt to the core and has been for more than 60 years.

Why are we having a mayoral and city council election today and the earnings tax election in two weeks? What a waste of money.
