Apparently PhotoBucket was offended by Pearjas departure, and has decided to punish me for it! So far it isn't speaking to me, so this story may never appear.

Where would I live if I bought a home in the area formerly known as Brady Town?

Brady Town was a cluster of shanties housing the Irish. It was located just south of the Square, although I haven't found definite boundaries for it. The Kritser house on Walnut east of Main was in that area.

This map has a fairly good view of the layout of the old Fairmount Park.

We "joined" Arrow Rock and my recollection is it never finished, becoming insolvent. Thanks for posting this, I would not have remembered where it was located, just that we had driven there looking over the "progress" a time or two before the project went belly-up.

We later joined Rockwood

I am with MRG. I dont think it was ever finished or got off the ground either.

The photo artist rendition must be earlier than 1958 but the cost was to be $120,000 when finished in 1958. According to my trusty inflation calculator, that amount of money would be worth $988,783, today, not a lot of money. The rendition does not seem to represent something substantial, either.

MRG, do you remember exactly where it was at?

A new grocery store will open soon under the name of “Fil-a-Bag Grocery” at 908 W. College. Jim Beck will be associated in the store with his father-in-law, Glenn “Dad” Harbaugh. He was formerly employed by Harbaugh at “Dad’s County Store” on Noland Road.

From The Examiner 50 years ago in 1966. Dont remember this store. There appears to be a teacher's parking lot there now across from Bryant School.

There was a Dad's Super Market in the 200 or 300 west block of Kansas in the fifties.
