The guess about the first is incorrect. Try further west. The second, you're halfway there.

On the second pic, typically . . no clue ! What might be a cross street? I can then cheat w/ Polk's.

It is much further east than I recall.

The Electric Theater on North Main in the news. From the Examiner of 100 years ago:

"A performance of “The James Boys in Missouri,” in moving pictures, was given at the Electric Theatre on North Main Street. Considerable feeling arose over the matter, many citizens being of the opinion that this was not a suitable subject to be presented in this city. A large number called Mayor Ott and asked him to prevent a repetition of the show or at least use moral suasion on the management to prevent further presentations of this subject. The manager readily consented to give no more performances, and said if he had known beforehand that it was objectionable to the public, he would not have presented it the first time."

If they only knew what is on the screens today, they would not harp about Jesse.

The manager probably withdrew the film because no one was paying to watch, if the objections were an indication of the majority feeling.

I can't even cheat on this one, uncle.

How depressing, I just took a Streetview south on Noland . . .what a contrast to the when I lived just 15-20 blocks south of there. Either Google's camera was working Sunday . .. because Gaslight Square and other shopping areas looked desolate. I guess everything's moving east down I-70 nowadays.

The first is the old Shakey's Pizza Place on 35th just east of Blue Ridge Cutoff. That was a toughie.

Glad I didn't give the answer away with the photo! (Yes, I know I did with this one, but it's quite obvious!) It's time for me to come up with another goodie!

You've got the highway right. Just west of Lee's Summit road.

Another place I probably knew at one time but didn't ring the bell. Streetview shows the sign still there (whited out) but the building undergoing renovation.

EDIT: Sign out front says . .another...."Family Dollar" store...
