The old boy replied asking if I was not afraid I would accidentally shoot someone's eye out. I said no that would not happen. But from that response I knew I was doomed and he would not bring me a BB gun. He did not.

By that last year, I had begun hearing rumors that maybe there was not a Santa, but I looked this guy in the face and he looked real to me.
Are you also known as Ralphie?

I was never in a movie, chuckle.

About four years later I did get a BB gun for Christmas. It was not a Red Ryder (I suspect it cost a couple dollars more) but was a Daisy and I was extremely happy because it was a lever action rather than a pump action.

That Daisy did not last a week until it lost its air pump action. My dad sent it back to the factory and I got a new one that was still working when I was in my thirties. I cannot remember what ever happened to it.

I just looked at Amazon and a new Daisy is 25.95.

By the way, when Lewis and Clark camped at the site that later became Fort Osage, they had with them a .46 caliber air powered rifle purchased from a Philadelphia gunsmith but manufactured in Italy. The rifle held 20 .46 "rounds" and was the first repeating rifle ever made. A hand pump was used to recharge the rifle. The pump took 1,500 hand strokes to recharge the rifle's air tank.

The Indians were mystified as to how a gun could shoot without powder and without making a big bang or a flash.

As an early Christmas present I now present a fairly easy mystery location.

Sorry Dallas, it is not south of 40 Highway!

MRG, I think it is south of highway 24 on the old M-291, looking south, but I cannot quite pinpoint the exact location, maybe around Geospace.

You are close, but need to narrow it down a bit.
